How is the landscape of professional learning in K-12 school districts changing?
That’s the question we set out to answer with the 2024 Professional Learning Survey, our second year of conducting what we intend will become an annual survey. We asked district and instructional leaders across the country about the priorities, strengths, challenges and opportunities of PD programs in their school districts.
With the current critical need for teacher support, it’s never been more important to understand the impact of professional learning. That’s why the survey is aligned to the newest iteration of Learning Forward’s Standards for Professional Learning: a universal language for describing the conditions, content, and processes for professional learning that leads to high-quality leading, teaching, and learning for students and educators.
The 12-question survey covered three of Learning Forward’s key areas in professional learning: Leadership, Implementation, and Evidence. The respondents were also asked to identify up to three of the highest-priority goals for their programs, as well as provide open responses to their district’s biggest challenges and opportunities related to professional learning.
We’re excited to release this overview of results.
