Earlier this month, KickUp welcomed two new members to our team: Sasha Kapur and Mar y Sol Esparza. Sasha and Mar y Sol will join our Client Success team, where their work will allow us to build out more capacity for serving new and current clients.
A new role on the Client Success team, the Education Research Specialist position allows KickUp to standardize our best practices for survey design and streamline our goal bank to be more aligned to our clients’ goals. Mar y Sol will be coordinating with content experts to ensure that our “best practices” are truly the best they can be. In the future, this will enable our clients to compare practices and implementations across their organizations. These analytics can also facilitate cross-collaboration within our KickUp community.
About Mar y Sol: Mar y Sol went to Northwestern University and studied Social Policy with a focus in Education. She went on to teach in Houston, TX for five years, working primarily with 3rd and 4th grade students.
Q: What most excites you about working at KickUp?
Working on the goal bank is exciting. Hopefully, as a result, it will streamline the process for our Client Success managers and make it possible to build in comparative analytics for our clients.
Q: When you were growing up, what was your favorite school subject?
My favorite subject was math.
Q: During your time as an educator, what was a moment that stood out?
I worked with a few hundred students in my five years of teaching, so narrowing down to one moment is difficult. The experiences that stand out the most are the turning points when my students felt successful. Their confidence led to higher collaboration levels and thoughtful conversations with their peers. Seeing a transformation in their participation level and experiencing their eagerness to show and explain their knowledge and thought processes was super rewarding.
Q: What’s your go-to activity when you’re not at work?
In my free time, I’m excited to start exploring the neighborhoods of Philly. I’m new to the city and can’t wait to get a better understanding of it!
As a growing company, we’re excited to add another Client Success manager to the team. Sasha joins Julie and Mindy in managing our partnerships with school districts and professional learning providers to create meaningful data collection tools, lead data review, and translate insights into action.
About Sasha: Sasha attended Duke University, majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience, but has since spent her time in the education field both inside and outside of the classroom. Her education experience ranges from teaching 4th grade math and science for two years with Teach for America in New Orleans, LA, to working for an edtech NGO in Pune, India.
Q: What most excites you about working at KickUp?
I’m most excited to support the incredible work that school districts are already doing. Using KickUp’s tech tool to instantaneously consolidate and analyze massive amounts of data on district-wide goals, we’ll be able to focus on the big questions: How is professional learning going? Which initiatives are seeing the most success? What actions can we take today, tomorrow, and next year that will help us support teachers as much as possible?
Q: When you were growing up, what was your favorite school subject?
Physics was my favorite.
Q: During your time as an educator, what was a moment that stood out?
As a teacher, my greatest pride came from watching my students work with one another. I enjoyed watching their creative brains and unique personalities tackle problems and come up with solutions that I would have never thought of!
Q: What’s your go-to activity when you’re not at work?
When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the parks and natural beauty of Philadelphia, cooking a new recipe, or practicing the dhol (a North-Indian wedding drum).
